Wednesday, April 8th Zoom Calls with Kids

Hey kids! We've missed seeing you! We are going to have a Zoom meet-up on Wednesday so that we can gather together to hang out, talk about our Bible lesson this week, and play a fun game together! Each meeting time will last about 20 minutes. Parents are encouraged to participate too! Zoom works on a phone, iPad, or computer. The link will be emailed to you.

Meeting times will be:
Preschool and Kindergarten--3:00pm
1st-3rd grade--3:30pm
Servant 45 (4th and 5th grade)--4:00pm

Following a leader is something preschoolers love and understand. What they need to learn is that throughout life, there will be countless choices of leaders they can follow. We want them to know who the best leader is to follow. And that is Jesus! Jesus is the best leader we can follow! Our memory verse this month comes from Matthew 4:19 and says, “‘Come and follow me,’ Jesus said.” Who can you follow? I can follow Jesus. By the end of this month, when we ask preschoolers, “who can you follow?”, our prayer is that they will answer, “I can follow Jesus.” Why? Because Jesus loves us, and He will always lead us in the best way.

This month, we will be learning about the connection between forgiveness and God’s character, as shown through God’s big story. Forgiveness is deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t have to pay. Throughout the Bible, we can read about the importance of forgiveness. Right from the start, God made a way for Adam and Eve to have a relationship with Him again. The same is true for us. No matter how much we mess up, God will always make a way to forgive us. When it comes to forgiveness, we can also look to Jesus, who chose to forgive even those who were crucifying Him. Because of God’s amazing forgiveness, we should work hard to forgive others. Our memory verse this month comes from Colossians 3:13 and says, “Put up with one another. Forgive one another if you are holding something against someone. Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you.” We will discuss how we forgive others because God forgives us and how, when you forgive others, it can change them. We will learn about taking the first step to forgive others and how everyone needs to be forgiven.

Our Sunday programs are fun and full of learning and growing! We meet at 9:30 for total group time and 11:00 for small groups. (Door open 15 minutes prior to start times). We provide a teaching summary for each class and encourage parents to utilize these tools to discuss their child’s lessons with them during the week. We believe that the family is the primary place of spiritual development and want to equip you with great tools!

Servant 45

Calling all 4th and 5th graders! We will be meeting weekly on Wednesday nights starting September 4th from 6:30-8:00pm. This will be a fun time of Bible Study, games, and connecting with old friends while making new friends! We will start off by studying the creation story in Genesis and will move forward from there as the year progresses. Dinner will not be provided except on the last Wednesday night of each month (March 25 and April 29). We will meet weekly until May 13th except for March 18 (Spring Break). Invite your friends to join in the fun for these events!

This year we will not be offering Wednesday night programming for kids in preschool through third grade. Over the past few years of working hard to create new and creative Wednesday night programming for preschool through third grade, we have seen that programming on school nights for kids of this age can be difficult for both the kids and their families. Our desire is to decrease some of the busyness of families and provide an even greater emphasis on our Sunday morning programming. Please note that while we won’t have Wednesday night programming for all ages, the nursery is open and available for kids from birth through 3rd grade whose parents are attending events in the building.

We care about your kids and want to keep them safe. Given the heightened awareness of viruses during this season, we ask that you please partner with us to prevent the spread of illnesses. All volunteers, parents, and children should stay home for 14 days if they have been exposed to a person with the coronavirus, the flu, or any other communicable disease or have recently traveled to a CDC Level 2 or 3 country.

You may have questions about what we’re doing to ensure our environment is clean and safe for your family. We want to inform you of the steps we take every week to prevent the spread of viruses in our environments.

Volunteers follow hand-washing procedures and children are instructed to wash their hands after using the bathroom and before eating.

Volunteers/workers follow posted safe and sanitary diaper-changing procedures.

Volunteers and children use hand sanitizer in all classrooms.

Volunteers disinfect the classrooms and all surfaces after each service.

Staff remove children from the classroom when they appear to be sick, and parents are contacted to pick them up.

We ask that you not bring your child to church if they exhibit any of the following symptoms:

Fever (must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication)

Vomiting or diarrhea (must be symptom-free for 24 hours)

Common cold

Respiratory infection

Sore throat or strep throat

Cloudy or green runny nose

Persistent cough

Body aches

Infectious or unexplained rash

Pinkeye or other eye infection (must be on medication a minimum of 24 hours)

Any childhood disease (e.g., scarlet fever, German measles, mumps, chickenpox)

Thank you for helping us maintain safe environments for children to learn and grow in their faith.

What's Happening?

#ServantSundays... Each Sunday morning, kids gather from 9:30-10:30 for total group time and 10:45-12:00 for small group time (Sunday School). Each month, we explore a new theme and our Bible stories, lessons, games, and activities all center around the theme for that month. If kids come for the whole morning, the lesson and activities will center on the same topic, but the lesson/activities will not repeat themselves; however, if kids come for only total group or small group time, they will not miss the fun games and activities and the point of the lesson. Nursery care is available for ages two and under while preschool and elementary kids (through 5th grade) will experience the Bible lessons in meaningful ways.

Share Your Faith with Some Awesome Kids! Servant Kids, 3 years through 5th grade, would love for you to join them on Sunday mornings to share your faith and be a witness to them. We have several opportunities to do just that! Do you have 3-6 hours a month to make a difference in a child’s life – a difference that makes an impact for a lifetime? Servant Kids ministry is also searching for adults who are willing to substitute in our Sunday morning program when a leader needs to be gone. This doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, we need someone for an hour during either the 9:30 or 11:00 class times. Express your interest to be volunteer or to ask us questions by filling out this form. Contact Kourtney Aller here or 405-728-4715. The email or phone call is not a life commitment, but it can change a child’s life forever.

We will be highlighting some of our very special and wonderful volunteers. This will help you get to know them better and also let you know who is leading our children on their spiritual journeys. If you see them around church, give them a hug or a high five for their hard work and dedication to kid’s ministries! Click here to view their profiles and to sign up as a volunteer!

The safety of your children is of utmost importance to us. That is why we use the Checkpoint system to check your children “in and out” when they are in our care. First Time Guests should check in at the Welcome Counter in the children’s area (lower level) where staff members and volunteers will be available to assist new families with checking in their children.

Servant Kids Discipline Policy

When a child spends time in Servant Kids Ministries, it is the heartfelt desire of the staff that these are the best hours of a child’s week. Periodically children are disruptive and even disrespectful to their teachers and peers. The purpose of having a discipline policy is to insure, if a child’s behavior affects the opportunity for them and other children to have a positive learning experience during any Servant Kids Ministry program, that there is a plan in place that benefits everyone.  To view this policy, click here.

Servant Kids Safe & Secure Guidelines

Servant Kids Ministry strives in every way possible to ensure a safe and secure environment for each of the kids in our care.  A policy is in place to be certain this happens. To view this policy, click here
