MAY Lessons

TO THE RESCUE
Sundays in May | Ages 3 years-Kindergarten
When given the opportunity, preschoolers are ready and willing to help because it shows the world they are big and can do things that matter. Need help stirring in the kitchen? Preschoolers to the rescue! Need help carrying groceries? Preschoolers to the rescue! Need help entertaining a fussy baby? Preschoolers to the rescue!
Could it be that the real reason preschoolers want to help is that God made them to help? We think so! That is why we will be spending this month answering the question “Who made you to help?” God made me to help! That’s who! After all, God is the ultimate helper, and we are all made in God’s image.
Our memory verse this month comes from Revelation 2 Chronicles 32:8 which says, “We have the Lord our God to help us.” This month, we will learn that God made us to help others, including our friends. God made each of us to help in different ways. He wants us to look for ways to help.
Who made us to help others? God made us to help others!

RAISE YOUR GAME: PLAY WITH CONFIDENCE
Sundays in May | Grades 1-5
This month, we will learn about the connection between CONFIDENCE and God’s character, as shown through God’s big story. Confidence is living like you believe God is with you.
We might try to base our confidence on what we do well, or what someone might say about us. But true confidence should be built on something different. We think it’s found in understanding how God is both big enough to create the universe, but also close enough to be right here with us. We know that we can trust God no matter what. We are created in God’s image. And God loves us so much! Nowhere is this more evident than in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. And, when we trust Jesus with our life, the Holy Spirit is there to help us face whatever comes our way. We can respond to God’s love and care with confidence!
Our memory verse comes from Hebrews 13:6A which says, “So we say with confidence, ‘the Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.”
We will learn that we should share God’s love with others. God is with us no matter what, even when we have questions. We will discuss how God sent the Holy Spirit to help us.

APRIL Lessons

1, 2, 3
Sundays in April | Ages 3 years-Kindergarten
1, 2, 3... it’s Easter! And we are SO excited to share with our youngest friends that Jesus is alive! We want our preschoolers to know that Jesus isn’t just a character in stories. Jesus is alive, and He wants to be their friend forever! This month, we are sharing the most important event in history with our preschoolers. Jesus changed the world, and He still has the power to change people’s lives today. Why? Because Jesus is alive!
Our memory verse this month comes from Revelation 1:18 which says, “I am alive forever and ever!” This month, we will learn that we celebrate Jesus because He is special, and He is alive. Jesus wants us to tell others He is alive. Jesus wants to be our friend forever and to love one another.
Who is alive? Jesus is alive.

COMMUNITY GARDEN:
GROWING FROM THE GROUND UP
Sundays in April | Grades 1-5
This month, we will learn about the connection between HUMILITY and God’s character, as shown through God’s big story. Humility is putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve.
We live in a “me-centered” world, where people act as if the world revolves around them. It can be hard to figure out how to be humble throughout the different circumstances we face. Thankfully, we don’t have to figure this out on our own. When Jesus was on earth, He gave us the ultimate example of humility. Jesus is God, and He put that aside for us. Through His life and death, Jesus also showed us how to serve others and put them first.
Our memory verse comes from Philippians 2:3 which says, “Don’t do anything only to get ahead. Don’t do it because you are proud. Instead, be humble. Value others more than yourselves.”
We will learn that Jesus put others first and we should put others first because Jesus put us first. We can put others first by helping them understand and by making things right. We will also celebrate Easter because Jesus is alive.

MARCH Lessons

CONFETTI TOSS
Sundays in March | Ages 3 years-Kindergarten
Preschoolers love trying to do things like grown-ups. They like to press buttons on computers and jump high to throw the basketball or stir the food to make something yummy to eat. Being able to say they can do things like Mommy or Daddy is a big deal!
This month, we are teaching preschoolers something else they can do that’s a really big deal. They can love like Jesus! We want preschoolers to know that they can love like Jesus, and when they love like Jesus, it’s like tossing confetti everywhere! Serving others, showing kindness, helping and loving everyone—these are things that even our youngest children can do. And when they do, they love like Jesus.
Our memory verse this month comes from Proverbs 17:17 which says, “A friend loves at all times.” This month, we will learn that we can love like Jesus, be kind like Jesus, share like Jesus, and love everyone like Jesus. Who can love like Jesus? I can love like Jesus.

WORK IN PROGRESS:
REDO, REWRITE, RESTORE
Sundays in March | Grades 1-5
This month, we will learn about the connection between FORGIVENESS and God’s character, as shown through God’s big story. Forgiveness is deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t have to pay.
No matter how much we mess up, God will always forgive us. Jesus even chose to forgive those who were crucifying Him. Because God forgives us, we should work hard to forgive others. We can decide that someone who has wronged us doesn’t have to pay. With God’s help, we can free ourselves from the weight of anger and bitterness, while giving the other person an opportunity to rewrite the story.
Our memory verse comes from Colossians 3:13 which says, “Put up with one another. Forgive one another if you are holding something against someone. Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you.”
We will learn that everyone needs forgiveness and that when you forgive others, it can change them. We will discuss how we forgive others because God forgives us, and God will always forgive us. We can’t wait to see you in March!
